The Author: SUDESH NANGIA

Dr. Sudesh Nangia (M.A. LL.B., Ph.D.) is currently a Professor in the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, JNU, New Delhi. She has been working on ‘Urban slums’ for more than two decades now. She has been the pioneer in advocating environmental improvement of urban slums (so long as the slums stay) to give them a human face.

Dr. Sukhadeo Thorat is Professor Economics in the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences, JNU, New Delhi. During 1989-1991, Dr. Thorat was a visiting fellow at lowa State University (Ames}. Centre for International and Comparative Studies (lowa City), and International Food Policy Research Institute.
